Our guest this week is Tilar Mazzeo, author of “The Widow Clicquot”, the New York Times bestselling business biography of the visionary young widow who built a champagne empire, became a legend in her tumultuous times, and showed the world how to live with style. Mazzeo brings to life the woman behind the label, Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin, in this utterly intoxicating book that is as much a fascinating journey through the process of making this temperamental wine as a biography of a uniquely tempered and fascinating woman. Tilar is also the author of “Back Lane Wineries of Napa” & “Back Lane Wineries of Sonoma” which together profile 140 friendly and down-to-earth wineries where the wines are made by on-site proprietors. Though revered by locals and industry insiders, these wineries are visited less frequented by visitors to the region. We’ll talk about her books, her research, her travels around the world in search of great wine, and her upcoming book “The Secret of Chanel No. 5″.
